Addis Ababa, May 30, 2024 (FBC) – The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has launched an application dubbed itsmydam.com/ through which Ethiopians and Ethiopian origins in the diaspora can contribute to the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).
The Bank inaugurated the application in collaboration with Office of National Coordination for the Construction of GERD and other stakeholders.
Ethiopian Commercial Bank President Abe Sano said on the occasion that as a reliable source of financing in the nation-building process; the bank has been discharging its responsibilities by engaging in the construction process of GERD.
The Bank has developed an application through which Ethiopians and Ethiopian origins residing across the world can contribute to the construction of the dam from wherever they are.
The president also mentioned that the application is user-friendly, dependable, and globally accessible.
Foreign Affairs State Minister, Ambassador Birtukan Ayano said that the diplomatic activities carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as public diplomacy and advocacy efforts being conducted by Ethiopians and Ethiopian descent abroad, have helped to correcting the unbalanced narration created against the dam and easing undue pressure.
She also extended gratitude for both Ethiopians at home and abroad who have been contributing their parts for the construction of GERD in various ways.
The State Minister has called on the Ethiopians around the world to intensify their support for the dam by using the new application.
Office of National Coordination for the Construction of GERD head, Dr. Aregawi Berhe for his part extended gratitude to all Ethiopians and Ethiopian diaspora for their unreserved support to the construction of the dam calling for their continued assistance until the construction is completed.
The new application is instrumental to strengthen the contribution of Ethiopians in the diaspora for GERD, he added.
