Addis Ababa, March 5, 2021 (FBC) – National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has today announced prolongation of registration of candidates till March 9, 2021 due to various reasons it mentioned in a statement.
NEBE stated that Addis Ababa, and Dire Dawa City Administrations and Oromia, Harari, Gambella and Benshangul Gumuz regional states completed candidates registration yesterday, adding these started the first round registration process earlier.
The board has conducted so far three consultative meetings with party leaders and representatives on the registration process.
Regions and zones that started the registration late including Amhara, Somali, Afar, Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples and Sidama regions and West and East Wolega Zones of Oromia has note finalized the task due to late openings of offices and transportation and related problems, the board said.
The registration process should have been finalized today March 5, 2021 as per the time frame the board announced so far.
Parties have been urged to finalize the registration of their candidates within the time frame until March, 2021.
