Addis Ababa, September 29, 2023 (FBC) – the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) and Canadian Red Cross discussed ways of strengthening their collaboration in the humanitarian sphere.
These two Red Cross Societies have longstanding history of collaboration in alleviating the impacts natural and manmade disasters in Ethiopia.
During the discussion, the two have reaffirmed their commitment to extending collaboration in addressing humanitarian needs in different parts of the country.

During the meeting, Getachew proposed several avenues for collaboration: National Society Development, Northern Resilience Program (Tigray, Amhara, and Afar regions), Bilateral Agreements, and Support for Amhara Response Phase II in coordination with the Austrian Red Cross.
Deputy Secretary General, Abera Lulesa, for his part, expressed gratitude to the Canadian Red Cross for their contribution, notably in the Strengthening Emergency Response in Africa (SERA) Ethiopian program intervention from 2014 to 2019.
The Canadian Red Cross delegates eagerly pledged their commitment to further explore and address the concerns raised by Secretary General Getachew.
