Addis Ababa, December 30, 2020 (FBC) – The business community in Mekelle city has set up an advisory committee consisting of 15 members.
Mekelle business community of the city consulted with the interim administration of Tigray on various concerns including security issues.
Extending delight over the resumption of bank service in the city, members of the business community urged the transitional government to let private banks reopen their doors to customers.
They also demanded that the interim administration preserve peace and security pursuant to the reopening of the business activity.
Merchants also raised concerns related to the interruption of new currency notes change due to the law enforcement operation, and demanded that the interim government bring possible solution to the problem in hand.
“Big amount of old currency notes are still held on by the business community”, they said, asking for immediate solution.
Transportation access including taxi services have returned to normalcy and traffic police has restarted operation, Mekelle City Communication Office reported.
