Addis Ababa, December 29, 2023 (FBC) – Government officials and stakeholders have gathered in Mekelle city to launch an initiative aims at reopening the tourism industry in Tigray region which has been affected by the coronavirus and the conflict in the northern part of the county.
The Tourism Minister in concert with Regional Bureau of Tigray Region unveiled yesterday the initiative to rejuvenate the tourism sector and restore infrastructures and facilities needed to resuscitate the industry.
State Ministers for Tourism, Seleshi Girma and Lensa Mekonnen, President of the Tigray Interim Administration, Getachew Reda along with other federal and regional officials attended the launching ceremony.
Head of the Tourism Bureau of Tigray Interim Administration, Atsbeha Gebregziabher (PhD), religious leaders and hotel owners in the region were also in attendance of the event.
