Addis Ababa, September 26, 2023 (FBC) – President of Bonga University, Petros Woldegiorgis (PhD), visited the Center for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in Moscow where he discussed with officials on how to forge cooperation on various fields.
Together with Rector of Ulyanovsk Pedagogical University (UIGPU), Igor Petrishchev and Director General of the Pan-African Public Private Partnership Development Center, Professor Oksana Mayorova, Petros Woldegiorgis met with Acting Director of the Center for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of Russia Sergey Malyshev.
On behalf of the Russian Ministry of Education, Ulyanovsk Pedagogical University has pledged deeper cooperation with Ethiopia in areas including education and research works in agriculture and health sectors.
The Pan-African Public Private Partnership Development Center, for its part, stated that it has finalized preparations to set up Open Education Center in Addis Ababa with a view to offer trainings and technical supports for specialists and enterprises engaged in production and processing of coffee, banana and other horticultural crops.
The meeting discussed ways of enhancing joint Russian-Ethiopian educational projects. Some 40 lectures of Bonga University have attended the meeting online.
Bonga University specializes in producing skilled works force for the agro-industrial sector. The university has set up a special Coffee Research Center, and is currently offering training for specialists at first degree. The university has a plan to give post graduate trainings at master’s degree and doctoral levels.
