Addis Ababa, May 31, 2021 (FBC) – The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has announced the major principles to be abided by political parties during the upcoming election period.
The board presented the principles included in six points the contending parties.
Major human rights agenda included into the principles include objective human rights measures, gender responsiveness, legal and policy amendment pact, right to freedom of movement, right to organize and freedom of expression, right to information and refrainment from provocation of violence and hate speech.
Recalling some contraventions during the pre-election period, Commissioner of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, Dr. Daniel Bekele called up on political parties to abide by the newly introduced principles to make the election fair, free and credible.
