Addis Ababa, August 20, 2023 (FBC) – Bahr Dar City Football Club has beaten Tanzanian side Azam Football Club 2-1 in the first leg of CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round this afternoon thanks to a brace from Fistum Tilahun.
Bahr Dar FC, also known as The Waves of Tana, played their first-ever continental football after finishing second, behind champions Saint George, in the 2022/23 Ethiopian Premier League season.
Both sides meet in the fisrt preliminary round of CAF Confederation Cup qualifier.
Accordingly, Bahir Dar City FC clinched a 2-1 victory over Azam at the Abebe Bikila Stadium, in Addis Ababa.
The winger Fistum Tilahun scored both goals for Bahir Dar City while Congolese striker Idris Ilunga Mbombo scored Azam’s consolation goal.
The return match between the two clubs will be played in Tanzania next Friday.
