Addis Ababa, June 8, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Germany, Fikadu Beyene, conferred with Ms. Claudia Voß, Managing Director of the German-African Business Association (AV).
During the discussion, Ambassador Fikadu thanked the German-African Business Association for their multifaceted activities to increase the bilateral cooperation between Germany and Ethiopia in the economic sector.
Praising the genuine efforts in encouraging the German companies to engage in the vast investment opportunities in Ethiopia, he called on the Managing Director to continue encouraging more German investors to seize the lucrative investment opportunities and the incentives provided by the Ethiopian government for foreign investors.
Fikadu also invited Ms. Claudia Voß to work closely in the preparation of the Ethio-German Business and Investment Forum in Germany in the coming months.
The German-African Business Association Managing Director Ms. Claudia Voß, on her part, reflected on the reforms made by the current Ethiopian government. For this reason, Ethiopia is invited to the G20 Compact with African Conference organized by the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, she said.
She also reaffirmed readiness to strengthen cooperation in the field of trade and investment as well as work closely for the effectiveness of the planned Ethio-German Forum.
According to Germany’s Ministry of Finance, the Compact with Africa (CwA) is a central pillar of the G20 -Africa partnership launched to this end under Germany’s G20 presidency. The aim of the CwA is to promote private sector-led development by improving the conditions for private investment, including in infrastructure.
