Addis Ababa, April 16, 2023 (FBC) – The Arican Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) has called for immediate ceasefire in the supreme interest of Sudanese people, to avoid further chaos and bloodshed.
The Arican Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) has convened its 1149th session on the Situation in the Republic of Sudan at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa.
After concluding its 1149th session on the situation in Sudan, AUSPC adopted a communiqué which calls for immediate ceasefire in the supreme interest of Sudanese people, to avoid further chaos and bloodshed.
AUPSC demanded that the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces actively prioritize inclusive political dialogue towards stability, and the restoration of democracy, constitutionalism, the rule of law and human rights.
The Council reiterated its solidarity with the people of Sudan in their quest for the restoration of constitutional order through a civilian-led government, while reaffirming the continued commitment to the respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence, and the political unity of the Republic of Sudan.
