Addis Ababa, October 21, 2024 (FBC) – The Chairperson of African Union Commission Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat today met with the United Nations Secretary General Mr. António Guterres and Deputy Secretary-General Ms. Amina J. Mohammed and their teams in Addis Ababa this morning.
It was indicated that the dignitaries are holding the 8th African Union–UN Annual Meeting in the Ethiopian capital.
During the day, they are reportedly discussing the concrete progress, challenges experienced and the way forward on their three strategic Partnership Frameworks on Peace and Security, Sustainable Development Goals and Human Rights.
Note that the UN chief António Guterres and his delegation arrived in Addis Ababa last night to participate in the annual meeting of United Nations and African Union leaders. Additionally, he is expected to inaugurate the renovated headquarters of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.’
Earlier today, Guterres has also met with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia and discussed various regional and multilateral issues.
