Addis Ababa February 09, 2023 (FBC) – The African Union International Centre of Girls’ and Women’s Education in Africa (CIEFFA), with the Republic of Sierra Leone and UNAIDS, is jointly organising the 7th edition of the High-Level Dialogue on Girls and Women’s Education in Africa.
According to AU the meeting brings together key stakeholders at continental and global levels to discuss ways of effectively using the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to improve and mainstream girl’s education in Africa
AU disclosed that the meeting will be held under the theme: “Leveraging the AfCFTA to foster Girls and Women’s Education and Skill Development for Entrepreneurship Opportunities.”
The 7th edition of the High-Level Dialogue on Girls and Women’s Education in Africa aims to share the experience of Member States on their existing policies promoting skills development and STEAM education within the Continental Campaign, AU stated.
In addition it also aims to discuss how the successful implementation of the AfCFTA could advance gender parity in education and women’s economic empowerment in Africa.
According to AU, the meeting promotes gender mainstreaming in the implementation of the AfCFTA as national strategies.
Speakers from member states including Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Algeria, Namibia, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Zambia, Cameroon and AU high officials are expected to attend the high level dialogue.
