Addis Ababa, January 29, 2021 (FBC) – The Federal Attorney General and Federal Police Commission have released results of the investigation into TPLF’s armed attack against the north command of the national defence force.
The findings of the investigation were announced by Deputy Attorney General Fekadu Tsega and Deputy Commissioner General of the Federal Police Commission Zelalem Mengiste.
According to them, an arrest warrants were issued for a total of 349 individuals for committing treason, attack on sovereignty of nation and on terrorism offences. Of the total, 124 have been arrested so far.
TPLF had been preparing for war by recruiting and training more militias. It trained more than 47,000 militias in 2019 and 37,000 militias in 2020 alone.
Of the total 279 individuals suspected of having links in Mai Kadra massacre, 36 of them have been detained. The remaining suspect fled to Sudan under the pretext of refugees, they said.
According to findings of the investigation, 10 women were raped in the ethnic based attacks and more than 117 graves were found during the investigation.
The investigation has not yet been completed and the taskforce deployed to investigate into the case will continue its investigation.
Full reports of the Mai Kadra massacre will be announced when results are obtained from doctors, they said in their press conference issued this afternoon.
