Addis Ababa, July 24, 2024 (FBC) – Mr. Arega Kebede, the chief administrator of the Amhara region, engaged in a discussion with the delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The primary focus of the meeting was on evaluating past performance and determining areas of emphasis for the upcoming fiscal year.
Reflecting on his discussion with OCHA officials, Mr. Arega stated that the meeting served as an assessment of humanitarian aid endeavors in the Amhara region throughout this year, as well as potential future collaborations.
He acknowledged that OCHA has extended immediate humanitarian assistance to displaced individuals and drought-impacted areas within the region.
On his part, Mr. Paul Handley, the Head of the UNOCHA Country Office for Ethiopia, confirmed that arrangements will be made to collaborate with the Amhara region administration on sustainable development projects within the region, depending on the improved security situation in the area.
During the conversation, Mr.Handley mentioned that a substantial amount of over 600 million USD in humanitarian aid was distributed throughout the country, including the Amhara region, during the recently concluded fiscal year.
