Addis Ababa, Dcember 29, 2020 (FBC) -Agmbassador Jamal Beker, Designated Consul General of Ethiopia to Bahrain, presented yesterday a copy of his credentials to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties and regional-level cooperation between Ethiopia and Bahrain.
Ambassador Jamal also took the opportunity to explain the law enforcement measures taken by the federal government in the Tigray region.
Discussing developments on the GERD, Ambassador Jamal said that Ethiopia is committed to resolving outstanding issues through dialogue.
Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, on her part, said her country is keen to strengthen its relations with Ethiopia.
She said Bahrain recently decided to open an embassy in Ethiopia, recognizing that several regional and international organizations reside in Addis Ababa.
She further said the law enforcement operation in the Tigray region is appropriate, and Bahrain supports it.
She also affirmed that her country would support parties in the GERD negotiations to solve issues through dialogue.
Finally, she expressed her best wishes for Ambassador Jamal Beker’s stay in Bahrain and promised to support him in discharging his duties.
