Addis Ababa, November 20, 2022 ( FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador to Benelux and EU institutions, Hirut Zemene, accompanied by the Diplomats of the Mission, has met with officials of the Government of Luxembourg and discussed about bilateral cooperation.
In her meeting with Mrs. Vernonika Dockendorf, Director of Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign affairs Luxembourg, Ambassador Hirut briefed her about the Peace Agreement reached in South Africa between the Government of Ethiopia and the TPLF, developments in reaching out to those that are in need of humanitarian assistance, the reconstruction of the conflict-affected areas and ensure accountability for alleged atrocities committed during the conflict.
In this connection she explained the readiness of the government to work with all international partners on the implementation of the peace agreement.
The two sides also discussed about latest updates on the status of the bilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and the Luxembourg.
The programme also included a visit to the Ministry of Development Cooperation and humanitarian Affairs, Ministry of Culture, House of Training and Chamber of Commerce.
During a meeting with Christophe Schiltz, Director of Development Cooperation, the Ambassador commended Luxembourg’s government for its humanitarian assistance to conflict affected areas in Northern Ethiopia.
During a visit to the Ministry of culture, the discussion was held to explore how the two countries cultural institutions have much to gain from enhanced cooperation.
The meeting at the Training House of Luxembourg was quite useful in exploring further possibilities of expanding the existing cooperation in the area of capacity building in banking sector.
The visit had also took members of the Ethiopian embassy to the Chamber of commerce of Luxembourg through which a through discussion was made with the Director of international cooperation to explore possibilities of creating a more strengthened link between the businesses of the two sides.
Ethiopia and the Luxembourg enjoy a longstanding bilateral cooperation that is close to a century.
