Addis Ababa, November 15, 2022 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia in Moscow, Alemayehu Tegenu briefed Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Bogdanov on current developments in Ethiopia.
The ambassador shed light on the peace agreement signed between the federal government and the Tigrayan Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) and delivery of humanitarian aid to people in need in the region and war affected areas.
Government has been undertaking rehabilitation and reconstruction activities to ensure full restoration of services and return people in war affected areas to normalcy, the Ambassador said.
While briefing the Deputy Foreign Minister on the process of the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Ambassador Alemayehu expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation for its unwavering and principled support to Ethiopia in the UN Human Rights Commission concerning the issue of the dam.
Mikhail Bogdanov, for his part, reaffirmed Russian firm stance on the principle of African Solution to African Problems, reaffirming his country’s commitment to cement cooperation with the continent.
The Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister added that the international community has now got clear understanding about the GERD. Mikhail Bogdanov further commended the longstanding and historical relationship between Ethiopia and Russia, pledging commitment to transform the ties to a higher level.
