Amb Zenebu briefs European Parliament Liaison Office on current situation in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, December 8, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopian Ambassador to Italy, Zenebu Tadesse has held discussion with Carlo Corazza, European Parliament Liaison Office Head in Rome.

The discussion focused on Ethiopia’s comprehensive reform initiatives, law enforcement operation in Tigray and refusal of TPLF junta to peacefully resolve differences.

Ambassador Zenebu also briefed Corazza about the damages caused by TPLF junta and crimes it committed against the defence army and innocent civilians.

As the operation in Tigray is a domestic issue meant to ensure rule of law and bring criminals to justice, no one should intervene or influence the operation, she said.

The government is working to return and rehabilitate people affected by the operation, she said, urging the European Union to focus on providing humanitarian assistance to them.

Corazza said he will push the European Parliament to provide support to operation and Ethiopia’s efforts to put an end to atrocities committed by the junta.

The head further said he wants the European Union to strengthen its financial and technical support to Ethiopia to enable it cope with impact of COVID 19, flooding and desert locust invasion.
