Addis Ababa, November 10, 2023 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia to the United States of America, Seleshi Bekele met on Thursday with Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD).
During their meeting, Ambassador Seleshi and Sen. Rounds discussed the Ethiopia-USA relations, African Growth & Opportunity Act (AGOA) and trade, the implementation of the Pretoria peace accord, and humanitarian assistance.
The Ethiopian Embassy in Washington, D.C. recalled that Ethiopia and the United States established diplomatic relations 120 years ago, and useful economic ties in aviation, coffee, and textile trade are expanding.
According to the Embassy, hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians live in the United States currently, and the moment has come to elevate the relationship to the level of a strategic partner.
After his discussion with Senator Rounds, Ambassador Seleshi said in a social media post that Congress may support such endeavors.
