Addis Ababa, July 4, 2023 (FBC) – The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) has showed keen interest to contribute to the improvement of the Oromia health system by strengthening the capacity of human resources and the quality of the provided health services, primarily related with maternal and child health and to HIV/AIDS prevention.
AICS has donated 140 computers to the Oromia regional health bureau to strengthen the health system in the region
As part of its support provided to the health system of the Oromia National Regional State through the project Health system strengthening in the Oromia Region, AICS handovered 140 computers that will facilitate the work of the Regional Health Bureau.
The IT tools will be delivered to the Community Based Health Insurance (CBHI) schemes of 120 woredas, the community pharmacies and the conference rooms of the bureau, it is stated.
“This first result sets a positive groundwork from which to continue combining our efforts in favor of the health system strengthening in the Oromia Region’s project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, AICS, with 1.5 million euros” AICS has stated.
Moreover, with the project together with the Oromia Regional Health Bureau and the Ethiopian Ministry of Health, the Italian Cooperation wants to contribute to the improvement of the Oromia health system by strengthening the capacity of human resources and the quality of the provided health services, primarily related with maternal and child health and to HIV/AIDS prevention, AICS added.
AICS further stated that the initiative is essential to avail the necessary documentation materials and facilitate proper data exchange for health insurance management, supply management and decision-making process in the Region that could benefit from strengthening the health system in general.
This project reaffirms the commitment of Italian Cooperation in the health sector, an area that will continue to receive much attention and work, AICS has said.
