Addis Ababa, April 13, 2024 (FBC) – Agriculture Ministry of Ethiopia has unveiled three strategies with the purpose of transforming nation’s food system.
The strategies: National Food Safety and Quality Strategy, National Nutrition Sensitive Agrifood Systems Strategy and Post-Harvest Management Strategy are aimed at boosting productivity and ensuring food sovereignty, it was stated on the launching ceremony.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Agriculture Minister, Girma Amante (PhD), stated that the strategies are part of the national endeavors to realize food self-sufficiency and sovereignty.
The strategies are also instrumental to protect and improve health and transform livelihoods of the community, according to the Minister.
Ethiopia is working to transforming the national food systems thereby achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
Federal and regional high level government officials, representatives of UN agencies and several stakeholders have attended the official launching ceremony held in Addis Ababa.
