Addis Ababa, October 16, 2022 (FBC) – Head of Amhara regional administration, Yilkal Kefale labeled agriculture as the foundation and destination of Ethiopia’s economic development.
The Head of Amhara region administration visited the current commendable wheat cultivation in Moret-Jiru woreda, North Shewa Zone, Amhara region.
He stated that the current cultivation of the wheat crop by Moret-Jiru woreda farmers is evidence that Ethiopia can be self-sufficient in food grains.
Increasing the productivity of agriculture improves the living standard of the citizens and ensures the prosperity aspirations of the country, Yilkal Kefale wrote on his social media platform.
He said that by improving the efficiency of the sector to the desired level, Ethiopia is not only reducing poverty but also creating the capacity to ensure food security by itself in a short period of time.
In addition to ensuring food security, Ethiopia will also speed up its journey towards an industry-led economy, the regional head of state noted.
Yilkal called on stakeholders of the sector at all levels for concerted efforts to realize this economic strategy.
