Agricultural Commercialization Clusters best means of increasing yields in Sidama Region: Expert

Addis Ababa, October 29, 2022 (FBC) – Kifle Shasho, Deputy Head of Agriculture Bureau of Sidama Region mentions that 2.5 mln quintal yield is planned to produce on 92 thousand hactare of land and about 21 thousand of it has been covered with cluster.

According to Kifle, cluster approaching farming has been attracting farmers that enables to increase agricultural products and productivities.

Head of Agriculture Office of Shafamo Woreda, Birhanu Kabeto says farmers become beneficiary through applying the concept of Agricultural Commercialization Clusters (ACC).

For instance, 150 farmers in a cluster have been cultivating barely and others on 30 hactare land by rehabilitating the acidic and eroded soil, as to Birhanu.

Besides to meher season cultivation, 67,000 hactare of land and water alternatives are provided for winter irrigations including wheat in Sidama Region, as per the Ministry of Agriculture-Ethiopia.
