Addis Ababa, December 29, 2020 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Diaspora Agency (EDA) has held discussion with Ethiopians living in South Africa on December, 27, 2020.
Members of the Ethiopian diaspora, community leaders, religious fathers, representative of business persons and members of the media attended the discussion forum.
Director General of EDA, Selamawit Dawit, said the agency is working to involve the Ethiopian diaspora in the development activities of their country of origin.
She further said EDA had done encouraging works in the past two years towards boosting the participation of the diaspora in business and investment, knowledge transfer, remittance and other decisive development issues.
According to Selamawit, the diaspora community has contributed a lot in putting their mark on mega projects, including the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), ‘Dine for Sheger’ and ‘Dine for Nation.’
During the discussion forum, heads of the agency presented key achievements gained and challenges faced during the past two years, according to Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
