Africa takes pride in Ethiopia’s peacekeeping contributions: Ghanaian military delegation

Addis Ababa, November 27, 2021 (FBC) – “Ethiopia’s contribution to the World peace is a source of pride not only for itself but also for the entire Africa,” the Ghanaian military delegation that visited Abyei said.

The military delegation toured the 24th motorized Peacekeeping Battalion of Ethiopia in Abyei on Friday.

“Even though Ghana has been participating in peacekeeping operations, Ethiopia has more experience than Ghana, and has been recognized and appreciated by the United Nations,” said Head of the delegation Colonel Francis Sackey.

“What we have seen is that Ethiopia has managed to use its profound experience in an unprecedented manner in the region. Ethiopia has played a big role in the agreement reached between the two Sudans thereby ensure peace and stability in the region,” he said.

“This is a source of pride not only for Ethiopians but also for the whole of Africa,” Colonel Francis added.

Members of the delegation said that they have taken a lot of lessons and exchanged experiences with Ethiopian peacekeeping force in Abyie region.  They also added that they have been assured how the Ethiopian peacekeeping force could protect tribal conflicts and ensured peace and stability in the area.
