Addis Ababa February 27, 2023 (FBC) – Economic Advisor for Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Joseph Atta-Mensah, said that the victory of Ethiopians over the Italian invaders at the battle of Adwa inspired other African nations to start struggle against colonialism.
In an exclusive interview with Fana Broadcasting Corporate, ECA’s advisory said that the victory of Adwa over the Italian Invasion offers courage towards the Struggle for African emancipation against colonial rule.
He said African Nations drew inspiration from Ethiopia’s victory and embarked on liberation struggles against forces of colonialism and imperialism.
“Ghana, being one of the first countries that had its independency with its former president Kwame Nkrumah and his friend, His majesty Emperor Haile Selassie who supported Ghana in the fight against imperialism against the British rule symbolizes the liberation of the continent by its own leaders joining hands for freedom”, Joseph Atta-Mensah indicated.
Ethiopia’s victory shows an African “CAN DO MENTALITY”, an ability to solve their own problems by themselves, which is a turning point for a rise of Pan-Africanism against foreign tyranny, he added.
ECA advisory Joseph Atta-Mensah stated that the victory of Adwa is symbolic and inspirational for all African nations adding that it also gave hope to many Africans in their quest to tackle their problems by themselves.
