Addis Chamber, Embassy explore ways to enhance trade ties between Ethiopia, Tunisia

Addis Ababa, January 10, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopia and Tunisia have long enjoyed a partnership characterized by robust business and economic connections, with the Addis Chamber of Commerce and the Tunisian Embassy in Addis Ababa playing key roles in fostering collaboration between the two nations.

In a bid to enhance this relationship, leaders from the Addis Chamber and the Tunisian Embassy recently convened for a productive meeting focused on strengthening trade and investment cooperation.

Kindalem Damtie (PhD), Secretary General of the Addis Chamber, praised the commitment of the Tunisian Embassy and expressed his Chamber’s eagerness to invigorate business exchanges with Tunisia, urging their Tunisian counterparts to join forces in enhancing bilateral investment.

Nabil Masmoudi, Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Tunisian Embassy, emphasized Tunisia’s interest in importing various agricultural products from Ethiopia, including olive oil, coffee, and hides and skins. He noted the significant potential for these sectors to thrive.

Zekarias Assefa, Deputy Secretary General of the Addis Chamber, reaffirmed the Chamber’s dedication to collaborating with the Tunisian Embassy and extended an invitation to Tunisian business communities to engage with their Ethiopian counterparts. He encouraged them to participate in upcoming grand trade fairs organized by the Addis Chamber.

As the meeting concluded, both parties committed to taking tangible steps to connect businesses of Ethiopia and Tunisia, further solidifying their economic partnership.
