Addis Ababa welcomes participants of AMALI City Leadership forum

Addis Ababa, October 5, 2023 (FBC) – Mayor of Addis Ababa city administration Adanech Abiebie this morning received the participants of the African Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI) forum at her office.

As the Ethiopian capital is warming up to host different national, continental and global events for the next 8 days, participants of the AMALI City Leadership Self-Evaluation Forum arrived in Addis Ababa yesterday from across different corners of the continent, it is stated.

The forum will be attended by mayors of African cities and senior professionals as well as other invited guests, according to the Mayor’s office.

“This morning, we gave a warmest welcome to the Mayors of African cities, leaders of international organizations and philanthropies, who came to participate in African Mayoral Leadership Initiative AMALI reunion: an initiative for promoting mutual learning and devising African solutions for African problems,” said Mayor Adanech noted in a post on X after according a warm welcome to the guests of the forum.

“We shared our success stories. Making Addis the best city to raise children and visited our showcases. They will also visit our city more. Happy to have fellow African mayors in their second home,” the Mayor said, stressing that “AMALI is a plus to our Pan-Africanism commitment.”

Addis Ababa City Communications Service on Wednesday confirmed that the AMALI City Leadership Forum will be held in Addis Ababa from today October 5, 2023.

The head of the Addis Ababa Communication Bureau, Ms Enatalem Meles, said in a statement that the city will host various international, continental and national forums from today October 5 to 12, 2023.

According to her, the capital will host the African Mayoral Leadership Initiative (AMALI) on October 5 & 6. On October 9 & 10 an international consultation forum to help establish a center of excellence for the Early Childhood Development Program will be held in Addis Ababa. Similarly, from October 9 to 12, 2023, Addis Ababa will host experience exchange forums for government officials.

Stating that the early childhood development program has achieved encouraging results, Ms Enatalem noted that the city administration is providing nutritious food to 9,500 children and parents in the capital.

The event are said to enable the ongoing comprehensive people-oriented development programs get recognitions.
