Addis Ababa, July 19, 2024 (FBC) – The African Boxing Confederation (AFBC) today announced that Addis Ababa will be the host city for an international boxing championship scheduled to take place next month.
This news was revealed during a joint press conference involving Ethiopia’s Minister of Culture and Sports, Ms. Shewit Shanka, President of the African Boxing Confederation, Mr. Eyasu Wessen, and Director of International Relations at the International Boxing Association (IBC), Alisa Shcherbachenya.
During the joint press conference, it was announced that the international boxing championship will take place in Addis Ababa on the 23rd of August 2024.
Renowned boxers from around the world will participate in the event, which is expected to attract high-ranking government officials, Addis Ababa international diplomats, and invited guests.
The championship is anticipated to have a substantial impact on stimulating Ethiopia’s tourism, culture, economy, and other sectors.
Additionally, the newly constructed headquarters of the African Boxing Confederation, located in Addis Ababa, will be inaugurated during the upcoming event.
