Addis Ababa, April 19, 2024 (FBC) – The Addis Ababa city administration has allocated over 150 electric minibuses to various sub-cities and institutions across all levels.
Ms. Adanech Abiebie, the Mayor of Addis Ababa City Administration, personally oversaw the delivery of the electric vehicles. During the handover ceremony, the Mayor emphasized that the distribution of electric vehicles to institutions aims to enhance public service provision within these establishments.
She highlighted that the electric vehicles play a crucial role in mitigating air pollution stemming from outdated vehicles, thereby aligning with the nation’s green energy strategy.
Recall that the Ethiopian capital has recently introduced electric public buses and minibuses, which have been deployed to provide public transportation services over the past three months. These electric buses and minibuses were locally assembled by the Belayneh Kindie Group.
Note that the capital city has also officially initiated the nationwide “beat pollution” campaign today, which is set to run for the next six months.
