Addis Ababa, October 20, 2022 (FBC) – Addis Ababa city has collected another international award at the C40 Mayors Summit for its exemplary accomplishment of establishing a modern solid waste disposal system.
The delegation of Addis Ababa City is participating at the C40 World Mayors Summit, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The City received the award for establishing a waste disposal system that contributes to protect the climate change, implementing decentralized composting and recycling system for a green and healthy city development process that also contributed a significant share in turning waste into compost.
As a result, the system that enabled to turn solid waste into a resource that heals nature and to increase the income of many young people.
The C40 Cities is a coalition of 100 cities from around the world founded to jointly protect the climate of cities from carbon dioxide emissions and the greenhouse gas (GHG) effects of global warming.
Mayor of Addis Ababa, Adanech Abiebie, received the award in person in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
It is to be remembered that Addis Ababa City has bagged an award for best achievement of School Feeding Program only a couple of days ago, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
