Addis Ababa, October 22, 2020 (FBC) –The Addis Ababa city administration said it will reopen schools as of Monday, October 26, 2020, starting with grades 8 and 12.
Zelalem Muleta, head of Addis Ababa education bureau, told journalists today that there is also a plan to reopen other grades on November 9, 2020.
The construction of additional 2,300 classrooms is underway to reduce class size to 25 students per room and for one student per seat arrangement, he said.
Zelalem further indicated that the school feeding program launched in the city will also continue this academic year with the necessary precaution measures in place.
According to him, all needed hygiene materials are being collected and distributed to schools.
School-based health centres will be established in 513 schools of Addis Ababa and a total of 2,052 health experts will be deployed, the head said.
