Addis Ababa-based diplomatic community extend New Year best wishes to Ethiopians

Addis Ababa, September 10, 2024 (FBC) – Heads of diplomatic missions of different countries and multilateral organizations stationed in Addis Ababa have extended New Year best wishes to Ethiopians as they are gearing up to turn the page to 2017 E.C.

The diplomatic community’s best wishes come ahead of the Ethiopian New Year 2017 which will be ushered on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

Dr. Ramiz Alakbarov, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia, sent his best wishes in a post on social media platform X, stating; “As we enter the New Ethiopian Year (2017 E.C.), on behalf of the UN Country Office in Ethiopia, I wish you all a Happy New Year. Together, let’s embrace the New Year with enthusiasm and a shared vision for advancing sustainable and nationally-driven solutions for the people of Ethiopia.”

The Chinese Embassy expressed its optimism that the new Ethiopian year will be a moment for both Ethiopia and China. “In Addis Ababa, one of the most modern cities with light and landmarks, hustle and bustle, people with Adey Abeba are about to embrace the Enkutatash of health, wealth, joy and prosperity! It’s a moment for both Ethiopia and China, whose mutually beneficial cooperation may usher in an even promising future!”

The Embassies of Germany, Iran, India, Denmark, Israel, Sweden, Republic of Korea, Czech Republic, the United States, France, the European Union Delegation, African Union, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), UNHCR, IOM and other UN agencies based in Addis Ababa have also wished peace, health, and new beginnings for everyone on the occasion of the New Year 2017.
