Addis Ababa, August 2, 2024 (FBC) – The city of Addis Ababa has formalized a sister city partnership with Rizhao City in China, aimed at fostering collaboration across multiple sectors.
The agreement was signed by Addis Ababa’s Deputy Mayor, Jantirar Abay, and Rizhao City’s counterpart, Zhang Dianhu, who represented their respective municipal governments.
Deputy Mayor Jantirar emphasized the inspiration drawn from Rizhao’s commitment to sustainable environmental practices, urban planning, and economic growth. He noted that the city’s focus on green development aligns with Addis Ababa’s own vision, expressing an eagerness to exchange best practices and collaborate on mutually beneficial initiatives.
Both leaders conveyed their optimism that this sister city agreement will lead to shared prosperity through joint efforts in areas including sustainable development, science and technology, culture, trade, education, and health.
Zhang Dianhu highlighted the strong connections between manufacturing companies in Rizhao and their Ethiopian business partners, reinforcing the potential for enhanced cooperation.
According to the Addis Ababa Mayor’s office, this memorandum of understanding is set to bolster the collaboration between the two cities across a range of fields.
