Addis Ababa, October 1, 2021 (FBC) – Members of the newly formed Afar State Council said the government has to focus on development activities that are able to transform the lives of pastoralist communities in the region.
A council member, Jemal Ali, said developing the animal rearing sector, among others, should be a key focus of the government.
Exploiting surface and underground water for irrigation is the other area the members mentioned a priority.
The other member, Zehara Umed, speaking to ENA, expressed the council’s commitment to effectively follow up and control the executive body.
They underscored the need to prioritize developing the potentially rich natural resources of the region.
