Addis Ababa, May 12, 2024 9FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that the inauguration of the Abbay Bridge today in Bahir Dar City represents a significant advancement in enhancing interpersonal connections and promoting trade opportunities in the Amhara region.
Recall that PM Abiy, alongside First Lady Zinash Tayechew and regional chief administrators, inaugurated the newly constructed bridge in Bahir Dar city, capital of AMhara region. This state-of-the-art bridge spans 380 meters in length boasts a width of 43 meters, featuring three lanes on each side alongside a dedicated bicycle lane, according to the Office of the Prime Minister.
“The Abbay Bridge inaugurated today in Bahir Dar City marks a significant step towards fostering stronger interpersonal connections and boosting trade opportunities,” the premier said via a social media post.
“Yet, beyond its physical structure, our vision extends to bridges that bridge divides, uniting people from opposing sides for a shared future. It’s about crafting narratives that transcend regional boundaries, uniting us as a cohesive whole,” he asserted.
The Prime Minister added, “Our mission is to dismantle restrictive mindsets and narratives that serve as barriers, fostering unity and cooperation among all.”
