Addis Ababa, June 18, 2024 (FBC) – An Ethiopian delegation led by Samuel Kifle (PhD), President of Addis Ababa University, visited Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU).
The Ethiopian delegation has engaged in a discussion with Prof. Jia Wenjie, President of BFSU and his staff.
During the meeting, Prof. Jia Wenjie commended the multifaceted relationship between Ethiopia and China, highlighting the strengthened people-to-people ties.
Samuel, for his part, expressed his appreciation to his counterpart, noting that BFSU is the only university in China offering Amharic language courses.
He also expressed his hope that other Chinese universities would follow suit. The AAU delegation’s visit aimed to assess the progress of Amharic language studies in China and shape the way forward.
Ambassador Muhammed Seid, head of political and public diplomacy at the Ethiopian Embassy in Beijing, appreciated the efforts by both parties and assured support from the Embassy for the establishment of research centers in reciprocity. He also emphasized the strong bilateral relations between the two countries.
It was stated during the meeting that a delegation of BFSU members led by the Vice President will visit Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia on 1 July 2024.
