Addis Ababa, April 27, 2024 (FBC) – Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, Jemal Beker, held a meeting with representatives of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) with the propose of cementing trade and investment cooperation.
Ambassador Jemal briefed the FCCI representatives on the burgeoning investment opportunities in Ethiopia assuring them of his government’s commitment to facilitate conducive environment for Pakistani businesses interested to invest in Ethiopia.
He invited the Pakistani companies represented by FCCI to explore the investment climate and also visit cultural and historical heritages in the country for further cooperation in the tourism sector.
He said that investors from Faisalabad can engage in, among others, garment and textile industry explaining about abundant resources like cotton which are needed by the sector.
Dr Khurram Tariq, President FCCI, said that Ethiopia and Pakistan have been enjoying excellent cordial relations which should be translated into stronger economic cooperation.
He said that FCCI has 9,000 members representing more than 100 sectors and subsectors of the economy. He stressed the need to materialize brotherly relations. He particularly appreciated the Green Legacy Initiative of Ethiopia and said that an Ethiopia-Pakistan Unity Enclave has been established in FCCI Sustainability Park.
The FCCI delegation has expressed interest to make a pre-investment tour in Ethiopia in a visit scheduled to take place from 26-31 May 2024.
It was stated that the FCCI delegation will meet Ethiopian counterparts and government officials in charge of the trade and investment sector.
