Addis Ababa, November 3, 2023 (FBC) – The ninth edition of Africa Sourcing & Fashion Week (ASFW2023), dubbed as Africa’s biggest textile and garment discussion platform, launched in Addis Ababa today.
ASFW2023 was launched by Melaku Alebel, Minister of Industry of Ethiopia, and Ms. Aurelia Calabro, UNIDO Representative and Director of Regional Hub in Ethiopia.
One of the few members of the world´s leading apparel events – World Texpertise Network, ASFW Conference 2023 is expected to focus on sustainable value chain, finance, women empowerment, manufacturing, logistics and investment opportunities.
At ASFW Addis 2023,r Africa‘s fashion and manufacturing industry with international investors, brands, whole sale and retail are gathering in the Ethiopian capital from 3rd to 6th November 2023. It will be attended by about 1000 participants where international experts present and discuss important topics.
According to the event organizers, international textile and garment industries are expected to sign deals with African manufacturers at ASFW 2023.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Aurelia Calabro, UNIDO Representative and Director of Regional Hub in Ethiopia said; “We support innovation across the whole spectrum of inclusive and sustainable industrial development.”
She emphasized: “We need to work together in the effort to industrialize Africa by focusing on private sector, key being the micro, small and medium enterprises, which are the basis for the sustainable growth of the economy and creation of wealth and employment.”
