Addis Ababa, April 7, 2023 (FBC) – The 8th Water, Hydro-diplomacy and Communication Forum is being held in Addis Ababa under the theme of “Strong Diplomacy and Communication for Sustainable Water Resources Development”.
The Forum is organized by Addis Ababa Science and Technology University together with the Ministry of Water and Energy of Ethiopia (MoWE). The Minister of MoWE Habtamu Itefa, researchers, and GERD negotiating team members are attending the event.
At the forum, consultations are being held on the communication and diplomatic approaches regarding the use of water resources. Research articles on the field were also being presented by researchers.
During the event, the MoWE Minister noted that fostering and strengthening such platforms help solve Ethiopia’s diplomatic and communication gaps pertaining to utilization of its water resources and instill knowledge of the sector.
He also emphasized the importance of building committed personnel who defends the benefits of the nation and shows Ethiopia’s stances for equitable and fair utilization of water resources.
The Minister also stressed that creating capacity that bind the diplomatic and communication approach with researches and scientific knowledge related to water resources is vital.
“Other powers that advocate against Ethiopia’s rightful utilization of its natural resources have more capacity and trained manpower in the field than our capacity to advocate in the international platform”, he added.
