Addis Ababa, March 14, 2024 (FBC) – The Ministry of Justice announced that the charges against the former chief administrator of the Somali region, Abdi Mohammed Omar, and the former head of the FDRE Metals and Engineering Corporation (METEC), Major General Kinfe Dagnew, have been dropped in the best interest of the general public.
Note that Major General Kinfe Dagnew’s legal entanglements pertaining to allegations of corruption were under consideration in the Federal High Court.
On the other hand, it is known that the legal proceedings regarding Abdi Mohammed Omar’s case were under consideration in the First Constitutional and Terrorist Crimes Trial.
Subsequently, the Ministry of Justice disclosed that the decision to halt the two proceedings was made for the sake of lasting public interest.
