Addis Ababa, April 18, 2020 (FBC) – Religious fathers of various churches delivered their happy Easter wishes to the faithful up on the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Abune Matias, extended his happy Easter wishes to all believers who are at home and abroad and urged them to extend their hands to those who are in need while celebrating the holiday.
The Patriarch sent happy Easter message to patients in bed, soldiers in frontiers, and prisoners under custody to have joyful festivity.
The Patriarch also called on followers of the church to adhere to medical advice to control the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Cardinal of Ethiopian Catholic Church, Abune Birhaneyesus Surafel, on his part said “Even we feel as dismay darkness encompass us, we celebrate the holiday filled with joy and hopefulness.”
Yonas Yigezu, President of the Ethiopia Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus for his part called on all to take appropriate precautions while celebrating the festival.
“We are in a world of fear and anxiety” said Pastor Tsadiku Abdo, President of the Evangelical Churches Fellowship of Ethiopia, urging all to thank health workers who are at the frontlines in the fight against the virus.
