Addis Ababa, July 4, 2023 (FBC) – The Ministry of Finance (MoF), the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the UN World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have signed a 5.4 million USD grant agreement to support communities in areas that are prone to natural disasters in Oromia and Somali regions.
The Ministry of Finance announced that the grant agreement will help the society to cope with natural disasters and recover from likely impacts.
It is pointed out that the main goals of the project are to enable the communities displaced due to conflict and climate change to find lasting solutions in the aforementioned areas.
The support is also said to enable the Ethiopian government to provide and respond to important basic needs.
Furthermore, the project also aims to create employment opportunities for displaced citizens to benefit economically and to involve in activities which can improve their livelihoods, it is indicated.
The Ministry also mentioned that the grant agreement is important to the efforts undertaken to date.
