Addis Ababa, July 19, 2024 (FBC) – Out of the 7.5 billion tree seedlings intended for planting this year, 4 billion saplings have already been planted across Ethiopia, as disclosed by Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente.
The Minister emphasized the significant role of the Green Legacy Initiative in enhancing agricultural productivity and establishing a sustainable green economy by mitigating the detrimental effects of climate change and resource depletion.
During a tree planting event in Sheger city administration’s Legedadi sub-city this morning, northeast of Addis Ababa, Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente emphasized the importance of protecting and caring for the trees.
The event, which involved officials and staff from his ministry and affiliated institutions, was part of the Green Legacy Initiative.
As of this year’s Green Legacy planting cycle, 4 billion out of the 7.5 billion tree seedlings planned for planting under the initiative have already been planted across the country, according to the Minister.
