Addis Ababa, May 22, 2024 (FBC) – The second edition of the Global South-South Summit has kicked off today in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, under the theme “Promoting International Cooperation in the Global South”.
The Summit is being attended by representatives from various nations and international institutions. Scheduled for May 22-23, the event aims to bolster South-South cooperation by facilitating the exchange of sustainable development experiences, innovations, and knowledge in the utilization of decentralized renewable energy sources.
It has been highlighted that the main focuses of the Summit are threefold: to sustainably empower marginalized communities with knowledge and material resources, to open up sustainable economic livelihood opportunities supported by renewable energy options, and to build climate resilience across the Global South.
The event has brought together over 500 participants, including international partners, policymakers, technology and business entrepreneurs, investors, and academics.
Alongside the discussions, an exhibition is being held at the Addis Ababa Skylight Hotel, where professionals from African countries and India will showcase their innovative solar energy discoveries and technologies.
The event is poised to serve as a platform for the Global South to share best practices, foster collaborative initiatives, and accelerate the transition towards sustainable, decentralized energy solutions that can drive inclusive development and strengthen climate adaptation across the region.
