Addis Ababa, December 8, 2024 (FMC) — The 19th Ethiopia Day, also known as, Nationalities, Nationalities and Peoples’ Day, is being celebrated in Arba Minch city of Southern Ethiopia under the theme “National Consensus for Multinational Unity”.
The ceremony is being attended by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tagesse Chafo, and Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives.
Similarly, regional chief administrators, mayors of city administrations, representatives of ethnic groups, diplomats, tourists, and other invited guests are also attending the annual celebration.
On this occasion, various ethnic groups and peoples from across all corners of the country are exchanging their customs, experiences, cultures and values.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and other senior government officials are expected to deliver remarks shortly.
Note that the country’s upper house, House of Federation, has designated December 8th to be Nations and Nationalities Day with the main objective of fostering the appreciation of diverse cultures and values while strengthening the interaction among the various nations and nationalities within the country.
