Addis Ababa, October 12, 2020 (FBC) –Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) today launched a new TV program in Arabic language, in addition to Amharic, Afan Oromo and Tigrigna.
The hour-long program, dedicated to the Arabic audiences, will be aired from 4pm-5pm daily (Monday-Friday).
Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr Hirut Kassaw, Board Chairman of FBC, Nigusu Tilahun, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ambassador, Dina Mufti and CEO of FBC, Admasu Damtew, attended the launch of the program.
Dr Hirut said the Arabic TV program would have a significant contribution for Ethiopia’s diplomatic activities on top of promoting cultural integration between the country and the Arab states.
Arabic language is key to attract investment in agriculture and mining industry as well as to encourage tourists flow to Ethiopia from the Middle East, she added.
Nigusu for his part said FBC launched the program with a target to promote Ethiopia’s culture, language, social values, investment potential and business opportunities to the Arab world.
Ambassador Dina said Arabic langue plays a significant role to Ethiopia’s diplomatic efforts regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and to maintain the nation’s benefit after completion of the dam.
Admasu Damtew, CEO of FBC, said the new Arabic TV program would help to realize Ethiopia’s citizen-centred diplomacy and meet information demand of Ethiopians living in different Arab states.
Moreover, it would help to forge good relationship with neighbouring countries, he added.
