Ambassadors of several countries attend an art exhibition in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, December 11, 2021 (FBC) – Ambassadors of many countries resident in Addis Ababa have attended an art exhibition organized Embassy of Bangladesh in collaboration with local artists in the capital and Makush Art Gallery.

Various paintings drawn by Ethiopian artists and other works of art depicting culture and history of Bangladesh and country’s relationship with Ethiopia have been showcased on the art exhibition.

Ambassadors of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Luxembourg, Norway, Finland, North Korea, Bangladesh, Russia, Australia, Venezuela, Czech Republic, among others, and a number of diplomats of several countries were in attendance of the event.

Some of the Ambassadors contacted by FBC said that the art exhibition is an exemplary event in promoting image of Ethiopia and enhancing its relationship with several countries in the cultural and people to people relationship.

“Exhibition is vital in telling the world that Addis Ababa is peaceful, and business is as usual in the diplomatic capital of Africa” the Ambassadors said.

They further expressed need to stage similar events in order to forge a link between artists and their counterparts in several world countries for sharing artistic views among one another.

State Minister of Culture and Sport, Ambassador Mesfin Chernet, addressing the diplomatic community, said Ethiopia and Bangladesh established diplomatic relationship in 1975 and since then the ties between the two nations is growing in several areas.

In terms of economic cooperation, the two countries are working in the investment and trade areas, the State Minister said. He added the two nations are also cooperating in the garment, pharmaceutical and agricultural sector particularly in fish production field, commending the event as a good opportunity to foster ties between the two countries in the cultural and people to people relations.

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Ethiopia Nazrul Islam said that arts of Bangladesh will come to Ethiopia and draw pictures that will promote cultural and historical attraction of Ethiopia to the rest of the world.

Dominique Chevolet, Chargé d’affaires of Luxembourg in Ethiopia, for his part, said such an event enabled him to see the diversity and beautiful aspects of the Ethiopian art, saying that his country is committed to deepen ties with Ethiopia in various areas of cooperation.
