Ambassador Seleshi briefs U.S. Representatives on current issues in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, June 6, 2024 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to the U.S. Seleshi Bekele briefed representatives Ronny Jackson and Jerry Carl on latest developments in Ethiopia related to economic, peace and humanitarian spheres.
The Ambassador explained to Representative Ronny Jackson about AGOA, humanitarian issues for vulnerable population, stages of transitional justice and national dialogue, and access to sea.
Ambassador Seleshi and Rep. Ronny Jackson also discussed the progresses in Ethiopia on economic reforms and investment opportunities for American companies.
Ethiopia, a second populous country in Africa with rapid economic progress has desire to transform its relations to strategic partnership level, he pointed out.
Ambassador Seleshi also briefed Representative Jerry Carl on key issues related to US-Ethiopia bilateral relations, economic development, peace and stability situations in the Horn of Africa and some of the constraints like AGOA exclusion and its impact on livelihood of poor people particularly on women and young people.
“Ethiopia is historically a close ally of USA with over 120 years of diplomatic relations. It is vital to advance the bilateral relationship of our two nations to strategic partnership level,” Ambassador Seleshi underscored.
