Amb. Tefera discusses with Chairwoman of Ethiopia-China Cooperation Committee
Addis Ababa, October 24, 2023 (FBC) – Tefera Derbew, Ambassador of Ethiopia to People’s Republic of China met at his office Ms. Betty Xu, Chairwoman of Ethiopia-China Friendship and Cooperation Committee.
During the meeting, the two dignitaries highlighted the main achievement of the committee from its establishment 21 July 2021, as well as future plan to work closely with the Embassy.
Ambassador Tefera Derbew appreciated the committee’s significant success and expressed his sincere appreciation to the committee for generous assistance for successful investment forums held in Beijing and Shanghai last week.
He also called on the committee to cajole anchor firms based on Ethiopia’s priority sectors, such as Mining, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Tourism, Pharmaceuticals, Energy, Agro-processing, and ICT.
Furthermore, Ambassador Tefera assured the commitment of the Embassy and Ethiopian government to work closely with the committee.
For her part, Ms. Betty Xu highlighted major activities realized by the committee so far, such as “Light up Ethiopian villages” program.
She asserted that it has been promoting Ethiopia’s untapped investment opportunities to the Chinese investors and established connections with 22 provinces, and over 300 thousand enterprises, chambers of commerce and associations to work closely.
